To Greek or not to Greek

I know I'm a little behind in jumping on the Greek yogurt bandwagon, but I just didn't see what the big fuss was about.  Sure, I have used it in baking, like in the Blueberry-yogurt muffins I made a few weeks ago and in smoothies (again, blueberry), but I had not just eaten it by itself.  Until the other day.  And it was awesome!  I tried the blueberry Greek yogurt (are you seeing a theme here?!) with some added, can you guess....BLUEBERRIES and some Grape Nut cereal.  It was very tasty.  As pictured, I also had a mini-bagel with some spray butter, b/c - my name is Kim and I'm a carboholic.  I think next time, I'll buy plain or vanilla yogurt and do my own add ins for less sugar.  Less sugar = mo'betta for my "bottom line".  haha, get it,  bottom line aka ass/butt/boo-tay.  Yeah, it doesn't take much to amuse me.

I've also tried the Chobani Pineapple yogurt with.....wait for it.....blueberries! and a few walnuts as a snack.  It was also quite yummy.  It's so creamy and feels like you are eating something really decadent.  I'm tempted to try the Greek chocolate yogurt - but that just seems...weird.  I'll probably try it anyway.

There are so many different yogurts on the market now, I get confused.  However, recently I read an awesome post over at The Candid RD about the different yogurts - I guess I should say I watched an awesome post, since it was a video blog...but she discusses the benefits of the different ones - soy, greek, regular.  Check it out if you are interested, b/c it was very informative for the non-dietician like myself.

The great thing about yogurt is (1) it taste pretty good (2) it's pretty good for you (3) MY KIDS WILL EAT IT!!!!  And if you've read any of my other posts, or know my kids - they don't like a whole lot.  So, YAY, lots of yogurt being purchased in the Mo'Betta household.  I've been doing better in my breakfast choices, and working on the kids too.  My other favorite right now is

Doesn't look that great, camera phone pic - but it's Grape Nut cereal with strawberries, blueberries and glazed walnuts (glazed = sugar, but they sure are tasty).  Of course, the kids won't go here...but they are eating more fruit, yogurt and a few veggies.  Mainly raw carrots, cucumbers with the occasional green bean and corn on the cob.  However, they eat more than they realize b/c mommy is sneaky ;)

So, that's all I have to say about that.  Gotta go CLEAN...b/c a mommy's job is never done.  Especially when her children's version of cleaning their rooms is too stuff anything and everything possible into every 'nook and cranny' they can find.  I found crap EVERYWHERE in my 7 yr old's room - gonna tackle the 9 yr old's today.  Might as well stay indoors - it's supposed to 100 degrees, literally.  OMG.
