Heelys - Why should kids have all the fun?

You're only as old as you feel.  We won't talk about the time I decided to jump and flip and bounce on a trampoline like a 7 year old and had to go see the chiropractor the next day.  (true story)  Just because I'm knockin' on 40's door, does not mean I have to hang up my leather pants and not party like it's 1999.  Ok...so I totally HAVE to give up the leather pants and half of you won't even know the song referenced...but I have a point here.  Which is...us old people can still have fun, right along side our teens and tweens.  Even though they will be totally mortified, b/c we're, you know...old.

I had the opportunity to review Heelys Skate Shoes.  Did you read that... I HAD the opportunity :)  Not my 10 y/o, or my 8 y/o, but me!  Check these babies out...
cool right?!
Do people even say cool anymore?  There phat. Tight. Off the chain.
I love the new designs Heelys have out now.
They also have the option of 2 rollers instead of just 1, for those just learning.
I really wanted those, but they only came in youth sizes!

I like the look of the ones I got (I love grey) and the shoes aren't too 'bulky'.  They look like regular tennis shoes.  (Heelys are also very durable.  I know this from experience, b/c my oldest child had a pair a couple of years ago, and when she out grew them, they still looked brand new.  (and she wore them a lot).  Now my middle child is wearing them!)

Of course, I had to give my new kicks a try with the wheels IN (they pop in and out, so they can be worn as a regular shoe, or a skate shoe)
ready to roll baby!
Oh my.  How long has it been since I've had wheels on my feet?!
too long apparently!
(I never fell however!)
My little man thought mommy was funny!
Then Number One had to show me up.
She wheeled around (without arms flailing in all directions) like it was nothing.  And made sure to have that "OMG Mom, this is SO easy, I can't believe you can't do it" expression on her face.  Maybe I should have checked out the Skate101 video - you know, so I could get the 411 on the skate basics.
show off.

Yes, Number One and I are in practically the same size shoe now.  So guess who has commandeered my cool new shoes?  And I was being all fly with my skate shoes.

I have to say, Heelys are a lot of fun for the whole family!  Even better, not only can you play in them (while getting lots of exercise!), but because of all the awesome new styles, they can be worn as regular tennis shoes too.  Number One has been wearing mine hers to school almost every day!  I make sure the wheels stay at home of course!

Are you interested in Heely's for yourself or someone else?   Want to learn more?  Check them out here!

  2. I borrow my son's Heelys, but they are just plain old black. My girls can do crazy tricks, but I'm just happy if I don't end up in the ditch!

  4. Those look like so much fun! I always think they look interesting when I see kids rolling around on them, but at the same time I feel like if I tried them I might crack my head open...what I want to know is if they make Light Up shoes in adult sizes- now THOSE I would buy... and I wouldn't need a helmet!

  7. I don't know if you have given up for good... but when my boys were learning... They would hang on to the grocery cart at Walmart and that really seemed to help! :) Hahaha!! (And I did get the "party like it's 1999 reference!) :)
