And instead of just chunking them in the ditch across the street like I usually do (shhh, don't tell anyone) I thought I would be productive and clean out the seeds and roast them. Number One loves pumpkin seeds. So, I found some directions and went to roasting. This is what I get for trying to be productive...
yep, those are pumpkin seeds....all OVER my oven. Stuck to the top and sides...everywhere.
Apparently, pumpkin seeds will pop like popcorn. or it's just some crazy sh*t that only happens to me. My hubs thought this was quite amusing, and brings up the fact that I should probably let them dry out first (after the fact of course). The site I was following did not mention letting the seeds dry out. However, when I looked at another recipe, sure enough, it said to let the seeds dry for about 3 hours. Well hell.
So....in case anyone was about to roast pumpkin seeds, I thought I would share my experience. Maybe I'll try it again since I still have a couple of un-slaughtered pumpkins. Maybe.
Oh my gosh! I have been roasting seeds for years and have never had that happen. Maybe it is just some crazy sh*t that only happens to you! lol!
ReplyDeleteOh well, you still get a A for effort!
