My big blue eyed boy
Because I like to start my sentences with prepositions these towels so much, I often give them as baby gifts. They are easy to make even with my limited sewing skillz. I just recently made this one for my cousin's baby shower.
Her colors for the nursery are black, white & turquoise; and since we don't know if it is going to be a girl or a boy, I tried to keep it gender neutral.
The only supplies you need are -
regular size bath towel
hand towel
ribbon or fabric for trim (optional)
sewing machine
I followed one of the many on-line tutorials - Hooded Baby Towel. This tutorial gives you step-by-step pictures, so if you don't like to read through directions, you have a visual! (I hate reading directions!)
I pinned everything in place to make sure I had it correct, b/c I've been known to sew things on backwards and have to start over!
Once everything was on (and yes, I had to start over once), I sewed the ribbon to the hood (aka half of a hand towel), then sewed the hood to the towel. Pretty quick and simple.
I even had Mr. Three model it for me, with my little pup peeping around to see what is going on! I want to make some hooded beach towels for me the kids too. Oh yeah, and if you are really crafty (or you pay someone) you can have the child's name, monogram, etc. placed on the hood - super cute & really personalizes the gift.
What do you think? Do you like to receive homemade gifts?

That is so darling! That would be perfect for a baby shower gift or birthday present. Thanks for sharing! I'm a new follower from a blog hop, feel free to follow back! www.iheartpears.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI love these towels and used them with my girls when they were little. They truly are a wonderful gift. Good for you for making them yourself!
ReplyDeleteHomemade gifts are always the best. I think the baby, and parents will most definitely love this towel. She/he can grow with it.

That is so cute! We still use a couple of the hooded towels for our 4yr old. Thanks for sharing this at my Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Hope to see your prettiness again on Monday. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
