I'm so proud of my kiddies...they are doing a pretty good job at making healthy choices. Not all the time, of course, they are 2, 7 & 9. Of course, I'm 37 and I don't make healthy choices all the time either! But I do feel like they are trying and thinking about what they are eating....okay, not my 2 year old, but the other two. I don't want them to obsess over food, but I want them to give thought to what they are eating and make choices.
My 7 y/o putting SPINACH on her sandwich, without any prodding from me!
My stringy-headed 9 y/o, having some yogurt, and wanting her picture taken!
Terrible Two having Cheerios (instead of Rice Krispies!). Yes, he's eating them with his fingers.
Eating an ENTIRE apple! Usually I slice it up for him, but he decided he wanted to eat it like a big boy.
Eating (and LIKING) strawberries!! He just started eating these!
Just a few examples of some of their healthier choices!!
Also, a garden update......the bugs are TERRIBLE. Grass is growing like crazy, and a bunny has made it to the garden through 2 fences and a dog! That rabbit almost gave me a heart attack...I was bending over picking cucumbers and it jumped up and ran away. Since I'm already super paranoid about snakes (even though I've never seen one in my yard) I totally freaked when I heard and saw something moving. Silly wabbit. The cucumbers are dying off, my tomatoes are being pecked at by the birds, but we still have some beautiful peppers, carrots, spring onions, loads of basil and the green beans have produced again!
It's still way cool. (Not the weather, the weather is hot as hell) The bugs I could do without however. and the frogs. and grasshoppers (I guess they can be filed under bugs). OH!! but I have another baby watermelon growing!! I wish I had a picture. Don't worry, one will come shortly :) I sure hope that rabbit does not come back for my melon. That would really piss me off.
Since I do not have to tackle (or find the time) to get on the treadmill today, I think we'll go to Target. and the grocery store. and maybe TJ Maxx. My favorite places <3 We'll see how Terrible Two cooperates, b/c you know...best laid plans and all....
You should be proud of your kids for their healthy choices! And I hate bugs too :-(. I hope your baby watermelon grows nice and big!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley! Having a small garden has helped the kids (and me!) want to make healthier choices and eat what we've grown! It's been fun! (except for the bugs!)
ReplyDeleteOh GOSH...talk to me about garden bugs and I will say UGH, I KNOW!! THEY SUCK!! They are all over our garden, and our pesticide has only kind of worked. It definitely helped, but we still see some bugs. Gross.
ReplyDeleteYour kids are adorable and they are so lucky that they have mom who provides them good, fresh, and healthy food. My mom did the same and look how I turned out! I love my fruit and veggies :)
haha Gina - I tried a store-bought organic pesticide early on and it did not work well (my cabbage was completely demolished by worms...ewwww!). I was hoping yours would work better!
ReplyDeleteAww your kids are adorable! And you are starting them off SO WELL!
