Light the Night

The Light the Night walk is done to raise awareness and funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Since it is obviously so close to my heart, I was excited to get involved this year.  Saturday night was our walk...it was me and my two girls, my sister and her husband.  We found out about the walk fairly late, so only had a couple of weeks to put together a team and do our fundraising.  I was amazed by the generosity of some of our friends (some of which I've never met!!) that donated to our cause.  We raised over $800.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!!!  It was awesome!  I think it was a great experience for my girls as well.  They saw a little girl around their age getting her "survivor" shirt...and it really had an effect on them.  Cancer is not just a "grown up" disease.  It can happen to anyone, at anytime, regardless of age, race, religion...it does not discriminate.  It cares not how much money you have, education or political influence.  Cancer is everybody's disease, and everybody's problem, and everybody's responsibility to help find a cure.

I wanted to share some pics.....

  1. Sponsors are awesome, and so good of you to acknowledge that. I often think that, when I see a company that offers free fruit, or water, or snacks.

    Very wonderful, indeed.

And the green star with the precious handwritten message? Just beautiful.
