I actually registered for my first 5K. Why? Good question. I'm not a runner. I haven't even exercised consistently since November. I don't even like running, but I really like what it does for your butt, thighs, legs, etc. And I want to lose 10 lbs. Is that a bad reason to run? Oh well. So now I have committed myself to doing this. Along with my sister. She's done one before, and is 10 years younger than I am....so I'm thinking she can have the wheelchair waiting for me if I make it across the finish line.
Since I'm a newbie at this running thing, I thought 'where do I start'. Well, I found this Beginner Training Plan: 6 Weeks to a 5K online at Fitness Magazine. Sounds like a plan. Day One - CHECK. Tylenol, heating pad and Ben-Gay - CHECK! Wish me luck...
i started running to lose weight as well, but ended up falling in love with it. Registering for a race is a great way to get motivated!
