Weight Watchers Smart Ones Satisfying Selections - Review

When given the opportunity to review the new Weight Watchers Smart Ones Satisfying Selections, I jumped on it!  I eat Smart Ones on a pretty regular basis when I need a quick and easy meal that's not loaded down with fat and calories.  I am also addicted to the Smart Ones dessert line - they have gotten me through many a chocolate craving!

So what's new about the Weight Watchers Smart Ones Satisfying Selections line?  Well - first of all, they are 30% larger than the regular tray meals, making them perfect for dinner time!  However, they are all still under 400 calories, are 8-10 Weight Watchers PointsPlus, and 25 grams or more of protein.  The second difference is the packaging - they come in these handy steamer bags...
You can pop these right in the microwave, or they can be prepared on a stove top if you prefer.

There are 5 flavor varieties to choose from -
  • Sesame Chicken
  • Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo
  • Ziti with Meatballs & Cheese
  • Chicken with Broccoli & Cheese
  • Chicken Teriyaki Stir Fry

I chose the Sesame Chicken and the Ziti with Meatballs & Cheese.
The first thing I noticed was the larger chunks of chicken and carrots than in the tray meals.  I also liked that the vegetables were crisp-tender and not soft! The meal was a little sweet for me, so I added some fresh ground pepper and red pepper flakes.  It was filling, and the best part - other than the super quick and easy prep - no guilt!

This was the second meal I tried.  Check out the meatballs, and it had nice chunks of cheeese!  I love cheese!  I thought this was good, much better than a lot of pre-packaged Italian meals.  Often I don't like the sauce in frozen meals, but this one was mild, thick, slightly sweet, without overpowering garlic or other spices.  I also thought the meatballs were good - not too soft or "mealy".  (As you can tell, I have texture issues!)

Overall opinion?  I will continue to buy these, as well as the other Smart Ones products.  There are many times when I need something quick and easy, without having to worry about portion control and calorie counting.  With three picky kids, who want to live off of chicken nuggets and mac & cheese, the Weight Watchers Smart Ones product lines give me an alternative without a lot of extra work!  It's especially nice on those nights where the kids have eaten early because of ball games or whatever and I need something just for me, but it's getting late and I don't want to eat a lot or prepare anything.  Does anyone else have those nights?!

  1. good to know you give these a thumbs up! I don't do processed frozen stuff very often, but there are times you just need something quick and easy that, like you said, you don't have to worry about the points and all, cuz it's right there before you make your choice.
